what's above your bed?

We bought paint for our master bedroom on Sunday. (Behr Cathedral Gray, if anyone is interested.) Right now our bed is against a wall that I stenciled with a bamboo design, but that's going away with the new paint. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with the space above our bed.

Any suggestions, photos, or links to cute ideas would be greatly appreciated!

fabulous; fur

In the last few weeks, I've gone from being the owner of zero real fur items to the owner of four. The first is a vintage tan coat with fur trim that I purchased for thirty dollars. (A total steal.) The other three items were passed down to me from Kelvin's mother, who received them from her mother: a black fur trim jacket, a full fur jacket, and a black hand muff.

When Kelvin brought them home for me and I tried them on for the first time, I said, “Well, I was thinking that I would try to be more fabulous in 2010.” (His response? He smiled and said, “That doesn't surprise me in the slightest, dear.”)

I will most likely only wear the fur trimmed jackets. I do love them all, but I seriously had to convince myself that there are not people with buckets of blood or red paint sitting around, ready to throw on people anymore. (There aren't, right guys?) Plus, the fake fur produced today is pretty good so can anyone tell the difference anyways? The plan is that if anyone asks me about them, I will a) say “Dah-ling! This old thing? Absolutely fake!” or b) smile and act like I didn't hear them. Repeatedly, if necessary.

There's only one glitch in my fabulous plan so far. When Latrina and I were discussing the furs, it occurred to me that if I'm going to be more fabulous, I'll probably need to start brushing my hair every day.

Damn.

if you're reading this post...

...you survived Christmas – congratulations! (I'm half-kidding!)

While my wish for an entirely mellow holiday season did not come true (my procrastination and then last minute shopping is mostly to blame), all-in-all we did have a lovely, quiet Christmas at home and everyone was sufficiently spoiled. We didn't go snowshoeing, but we did get a fair bit of snow, which meant a white Christmas; which I love

Did you all have a nice holiday? I hope so!

(And can you believe it's almost 2010?!)

co-worker gifts

I decided to go simple—and super cheap—for co-worker holiday gifts this year. (No, I still haven't gotten over the the Secret Santa crap yet!) I'm giving out a single ornament (cheesy, I know) and I made little seasons greetings tags to go along with the ornament. Secret Santa – not getting one.

Tomorrow is my last day of work before the holiday and I'm really looking forward to having a stretch of time off. I don't know why I didn't take more time off this holiday – something to remember next year... And it looks like we're going to have a white Christmas here in Colorado this year. The forecast is for 1-3 inches of snow tonight with an additional 2-4 inches tomorrow and another 1-3 tomorrow night. Perfect for snowshoeing on Christmas day? I really hope so!

i hope i never forget

If there is one thing I hope I never forget about this Christmas season, it will be the way Giovanni butchered holiday songs. Some of the things he's come up with have cracked me up; others have made me cringe.

Last night, when we were sewing stockings (which are totally done now, by the way...ya-hoo!), Giovanni began to sing “deck the halls with balls of holly.” After Kelvin corrected him, Giovanni then added the word 'my' in front of 'balls' and sang it again. And then Kelvin called him an ogre and told him he didn't want to hear about his balls again unless we needed to take him to see the doctor...

Christmas with boys is loads of fun.
